  Distribution of European films

Call for proposals (EACEA/03/09) for support for the transnational distribution of European films “The Automatic Scheme 2009”. One of the objectives of the programme is to encourage and support the wider transnational distribution of recent European films by providing funds to distributors, based upon their performance on the market, for further reinvestment in new non-national European films. The scheme also aims to encourage the development of links between the production and distribution sectors thus improving the market share of European films and the competitiveness of European companies.

  Nanoelectronics

Nanoelectronics is the essential hardware enabler for the innovation of electronic products and services in key growth markets for the European industry. In 2004 a High Level Group of key representatives published its 'Vision 2020' for Nanoelectronics and launched ENIAC, the European Technology Platform for Nanoelectronics, with the overall aim to guarantee Europe the earliest possible access to leading-edge integrated components, miniaturized electronic (sub) systems and design skills for application in high-technology products and services, thereby reinforcing Europe’s existing industrial strengths and ensuring that core intellectual property is generated and benefited from in the region. As a result of the work of the Technology Platform, the ENIAC Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) was established through the voluntary and concerted efforts of experts from industry, academia, and public authorities across Europe. Notice is hereby given of the launch of a call for proposals under the work programme of the ENIAC Joint Undertaking.

EU - Canada Framework for Co-operation in Higher Education

In the context of the European Union - Canada Framework for Co-operation in Higher Education, Training and Youth (EU-Canada Programme) a new call for proposals has been launched to fund joint study and/or training Programmes allowing transatlantic exchanges between European and Canadian education institutions. The funded activities, such as the development of curricula, joint study programmes, international internships, exchanges and study abroad with provision for mutual credit recognition and language and cultural preparation, will benefit to higher education students, vocational education and training learners and teachers/trainers/administrative staff.

Disaster Prevention

No specific objective or target group is set for prevention projects. However, the general requirement for eligible projects is to contribute to the development of a knowledge–based  disaster prevention policies approach on prevention. Prevent and mitigate long term damage by improving risk assessment and management. Ideally, consistency should be promoted in the 'response-preparedness-prevention-remediation' chain, by matching general policy and civil protection requirements.

The EU Public Health Programme

The Health Programme is the European Commission’s main instrument for implementing the EU health strategy. The programme aims, through projects and other actions it funds, to improve the level of physical and mental health and well-being of EU citizens and reduce health inequalities throughout the Community. In particular, the Programme supports health-promoting and preventive actions that address the major health determinants e.g., nutrition, physical activity, or smoking.

Marco Polo: Freight Transport

The Erasmus University Charter provides the general framework for the European cooperation activities a higher education institution (HEI) may carry out within the Erasmus programme as part of the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP). The Erasmus University Charter must be awarded as a prerequisite for HEI to organise student mobility and teaching and other staff mobility, to carry out Erasmus intensive language courses and intensive programmes, and to apply for multilateral projects, networks, accompanying measures and to organise preparatory visits.

  Intelligent Energy – Europe II Programme (“IEE II”)

The European Union has agreed to a new energy policy designed to achieve the Community’s energy objectives of sustainability, competitiveness and security of supply. Accordingly, the EU has committed itself to the "20-20-20" initiative: reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, increasing the share of renewables in energy consumption to 20% compared to 8.5% today, and improving energy efficiency by 20%, all by 2020. The objective of the Intelligent Energy – Europe II Programme (“IEE II”) is to contribute to secure, sustainable and competitively priced energy for Europe, by providing for action:

1) to foster energy efficiency and the rational use of energy resources;

2) to promote new and renewable energy sources and to support energy diversification; and

3) to promote energy efficiency and the use of new and renewable energy sources in transport.

  MEDIA Programme: Distribution Sector

The objectives of the MEDIA 2007 programme for the distribution sector are as follows: (a) strengthening European distribution by encouraging distributors to invest in the co-production, acquisition and promotion of non-national European films and to set up coordinated marketing strategies; and (b) to promote broader transnational dissemination of European films, particularly by encouraging distributors to invest in the suitable promotion and distribution of non-national European films.
